I started a YouTube channel…and I’m a wee bit terrified!

I just spent the last three days making practice videos of me putting on makeup and talking about the rats. I feel a little ridiculous.

I mean, I’m awkward in real life – it’s probably worse on camera. And you get all these things going in your head when you put yourself out there on video:

I’m not pretty enough.

I’m not girly enough to talk about makeup.

No one wants to watch this shit.

Seriously? What are you thinking, Amber?

At the same time, it’s really exciting. I like making videos. I like feeling like I’m talking to people and like we share something in common. There have to be other nerdy girls out there who love makeup, Harry Potter, and reading young adult fiction, right? I don’t want to be internet famous, I just want to have a place to rant about the package Ulta lost this week and tell you how in love I am with BH Cosmetics. I want to unbox my subscriptions for you, get chatty, and make you laugh.

I finally put myself out there, set up my channel, and posted my first video tonight. I might have a panic attack.

It comes complete with morning messy bun, lack of video editing software, pregnancy acne, and my birds effing up my microphone halfway through with their screeching. Keeping it real.

Nonetheless, I’m sucking it up and bringing you my thoughts, awkwardness, and maybe a little bit of fun in HD. If you’re up for that sort of thing, check out my first video, which is a Get Ready With Me introduction to myself and my blog/channel.
