January 2017 Lip Monthly Review

It’s heeeeere: Lip Monthly! I got my first box (normally $12.95) on a $5 trial, and I’m excited to share these products with you. I tried to make a video for this one, but I was in hot mess-ville after not sleeping well and being at work all day, so I’ve got photos instead. AND I took the time to swatch these this time – the colors are that awesome!

Similar to Ipsy, lip monthly sends you a little cosmetics bag every month. It’s smaller than the Ipsy bag and the quality isn’t as nice, but I can ALWAYS use another zipper bag. Of course, it’s the one thing I forgot to snap a photo of – sorry guys!

So what’s inside?

Lord & Berry Crayon

lip monthly review

This is a Lord & Berry lip crayon in Black Red, which is a terrible descriptor for this color because it’s actually more of a Brown Red. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but when I created a swatch, it was very creamy. Retail value $10.00.

Manna Kadar Lipstick

lip monthly review

This Manna Kadar lipstick is a sexy red. I was just talking in a video about how I didn’t have a red lipstick (and that every girl should). I finally went and bought one from Nyx, but this one is even brighter, and I love it!

I haven’t tried this one either, so I can’t attest to how long-lasting it is or whether it’s drying or not. Retail value $21.00.

Hola Neon Liquid Lipstick

lip monthly review

This is a velvet liquid matte lipstick in Lavender soul, and it’s a berry purple color. I was immediately excited about this one because I don’t have any darker lipstick AND I’ve had horrible experiences with liquid mattes in the past, so I wanted to see if this one was better.

Of course, I had to try it right away! This is my favorite of the bunch. It’s the perfect amount of purple for me. I admire you edgy ladies who feel great going out in purple, blue, or orange lipstick, but I’m just not that bold.

This lipstick is moisturizing and has staying power! I had a difficult time removing it when I finally wanted to take it off (5 hours later), so no worries about this fading the second you eat or drink something.

I love that, other than Lord & Berry, I hadn’t heard of any of these brands. It’s fun to try new things. I also haven’t tried a product that I want to buy more of from a subscription box…until now. This Lip Monthly included a 30% off Hola Neon coupon, and I’m definitely getting this in a few more colors. Retail value $17.00.

Jelly Pong Pong Lipgloss

lip monthly review

OK, can we talk about how adorable everything about this brand is for a minute? First of all, it’s called Jelly Pong Pong. So cute. Second of all, it came in this adorable vintage-looking women with parasols packaging:

lip monthly review

I’m a sucker for pretty packaging.

This is a lipgloss in a similar purple berry color to the Hola Neon lipstick, but since it’s a gloss, it’s much more subtle. I got a chance to try this one as well, and it’s very moisturizing, but like most glosses, it comes off easily with food, drink, etc.

I like this one a lot, so I checked out some of their other products. Their website is just as cute, and they have a wide range of cosmetics for eyes, face, and lips, as well as body and hair products. Prices are mid-range – more expensive than drugstore, cheaper than something like Urban Decay or Smashbox.

Another cool thing about this lipglossĀ is that it’s vegan, gluten-free, hypoallergenic, cruelty-free and paraben-free. If you have sensitivities or just want friendlier lip product, this is for you. I haven’t done much research, but I’m hoping the rest of their brand is similar! Retail value $19.95.

Here are what the colors actually look like:

In this pic, I’m wearing the Hola Neon liquid matte. Love. Love. Love.
