3 Ways to Boost Holiday Spirit
The holiday spirit just isn’t in me this year. Even my husband, who loves Christmas more than anyone I know, isn’t feeling it. This year was HARD for us, and for a lot of people we know, so we’re kind of counting down the New Year.
I’m so NOT feeling the holidays that I didn’t even want to write this post…
Despite that, here are 3 things I’m doing this year to try to get into the holiday mood.
1. Enjoy Giving
I don’t know about you, but I love giving presents almost as much as I enjoy receiving them. This year I had a short list of people to buy for:
- My husband
- The two aunts whose names we got in the family name drawing
Since it was a short list, I was able to put effort into buying truly thoughtful, personal gifts that I think they’ll love. Choosing gifts that I know will wow my friends and family makes Christmas more special. Drinking wine and blasting Christmas music while wrapping them also helps.
2. Remember What It’s About
Most years, my husband loves everything about Christmas – decorating, the Christmas movies, watching our nieces open presents, snow and our town’s Victorian Christmas celebration. That’s all nice, but my most favorite part of the holidays is seeing my family.
It helps boost my holiday spirit to remember that, regardless of how I am feeling about the holidays in general, I get to see my family and hang out for a night, and that’s awesome.
3. Plan for the New Year
Maybe this won’t boost your holiday spirit, but it will at least remind you that they’ll be over soon.
If nothing else, I am planning for an awesome 2017. This includes:
- Revising my business plans
- Starting my 2017 Passion Planner
- Setting goals
- Making plans to visit faraway friends
- Winter cleaning my house
All of these things remind me that a fresh year is on its way, and it’s bringing with it new opportunities.
